Seniors Match Report
The Rococo’s Bar and Bistro Noosa Tigers have recorded a 20 goal plus victory over the Burleigh Bombers in front of a great 1200 people strong crowd at the Noosa village Autos Oval last Saturday.
On a beautiful autumn day and with Collingwood great Dane swan entertaining a sold out President‚Äôs Luncheon the Noosa boys were just far too strong for the Gold Coast outfit. Early on the game was a grind with both teams going head to head and the contested ball even around the stoppages. However the Tigers broke the game open in the middle part of the second stanza and from there it was just smooth sailing and plenty of skilful highlights for the top of the table Tigers. Former club champion and avid football follower Damian Hahn said ‚Äėonce we got going in the second quarter the game was over. Noosa were fitter stronger and heaps cleaner with the footy than their opposition and just seemed to have so many avenues to goal. To win by over 100 points is an enormous effort in any competition and the Tigers were clearly in the zone today. The young blokes really impressed me and I can‚Äôt wait to see how the season unfolds‚Äô.
Nick Hill was outstanding for the victors amassing 28 touches and booting five goals up forward whilst Connor McDonald was again a standout at centre half forward kicking five himself. The two ‚ÄėWill‚Äôs‚Äô as they are known at Noosa just keep on wowing the Tiger faithful with their clean skills and ball use. Young will O‚Äô Dwyer booted five goals and Will McKenzie slotted two to find themselves among the best players for the senior side. Maverick Pettigrove was just dynamite the entire day around the coal face picking up 29 touches in another super impressive display whilst the ever consistent Mitch woods continues to dominate his wing and would be surely up there in any best and fairest voting happening at the tigers thus far in 2019. Riley O‚ÄôDwyer was solid across half back as was Harry Maher in what was a pretty lopsided contest particularly after half time. Talented on baller Jai Fitzpatrick continued his great form throughout 2019 whilst champion rover and club legend Cubby Isles put in his best display for the seniors for some time.
A massive thank you to Dane Swan and all those who organised and attended what was just a fantastic President’s Luncheon. The Rococo’s Noosa Tigers head back down the Bruce Highway this Saturday to take on Aspley and complete the first round of fixtures. A reminder to all that our next speaking guest will be Black Caviar trainer Peter Moody on Saturday June the 1st.
See you there.
The Reserves remain undefeated on top of the ladder with an impressive 129 point demolition of Burleigh. The boys got off to a great start with Connor Templeton giving the forwards plenty of opportunities with his run off half back.
Daniel Bence (7 goals), Darcy O’Sullivan, Ryan Torrence and Gary Wallace were dominating the midfield battle whilst up forward it was the robust Ryan Evans leading the way with ix majors. He was well backed up with the likes of Adam Curry and Sam Friend impressing the Tiger crowd.
The younger members of the team are leading the way with first gamer Charlie Bowes impressing along with Benny Woodburn up forward and Noah Evans and Paddy Broman getting the job done down back.
Noosa’s tackling was a feature of their game with co-captain Keenan James setting the standard.
‚ÄėTo play our way for most of the game was really pleasing‚Äô, said Tony Brennan
