5 on the trot for tigers!
The Rococo’s Bar and Bistro Noosa Tigers remain at the top of the Hart Sport Division 1 ladder after a gutsy six goal win against Aspley in Brisbane last weekend.
In atrociously windy conditions the home side jumped the ladder leaders to lead by 20 points at the first break after kicking with the wind advantage. The Tigers just seemed sluggish to start and after a few stern words from Sam Faure at quarter time (plus some minor adjustments with personnel around the ball) the Noosa Tigers clicked into gear. In fact their defensive structures in the final three quarters were outstanding with Aspley only kicking one goal for the game after that first break. Noosa peppered the goals in the second half and could have probably been further in front however the win was what they were after and ‘on the road’ games in unsavoury conditions can be tricky.
Club legend Doug Murray described the contest as a ‘pretty scrappy game with not a lot of highlights’. The wind just played havoc the entire day and with next to no crowd in attendance, the atmosphere was hardly exciting. Skipper Aaron Laskey was easily the best for the tigers and continues his stellar run of consistency as did Harry Maher and young ruckman Connor McDonald. Once again football manager Mitch Woods was ever reliable across half back whilst Corey Boardman and Joel Lambourn rounded out the best.
Back home at Weyba rd again this Saturday when we host Yeronga coinciding with our 2018 Kids fun day. There will be jumping castles ,face painting, and heaps of fun AFL games so bring the kids down to join in the fun and support the premier footy code in the coast. I must mention Maggie Harmer, Bella Smith and Keana Welsh (all Noosa Tiger’s girls) who have been selected in the Queensland state squad after starting at the state titles in cairns last weekend. Great stuff girls! Best of luck to all our junior teams playing over the weekend and see you all at the footy
Go tigers Cheers Pittsy
