The Rococo Bar and Bistro Noosa Tigers have positioned themselves on top of the Hart Sports Division 1 ladder after a comprehensive 12 goal thrashing of University of QLD last Saturday at Weyba road. Wilst the final scoreboard shows a total dominance in scoring shots the first quarter was anything but even as a well organised Uni of QLD seemed more committed and were much cleaner with ball in hand than the highly fancied Noosa Tigers. Senior coach Sammy Faure was stern at the first break with his words reiterating that hard work wins footy matches not reputations. After that break the Tigers never looked back  as prime mover Tom Templeton dominated the midfield with his trademark explosion from the contest whilst the class of stack and Fitzpatrick started to heap pressure on the Brisbane students.
The final half of the game was all Noosa’s as their running game completely took its toll on the visitors with constant surge from half back and a press that made it hard for University of QLD in defence. Big forward Liam Kenny bagged 6 goals in an impressive display whilst Delbridge, Vaughan and O’Brien helped themselves to multiple goals. Connor McDonald continued his super form in the ruck whilst left footers Stevens and Maher once again were among the very best players for the tigers. Stack was terrific for the entire four quarters however the influence Templeton had on the contest in that second and third quarter really took the game away from the lions.
The win certainly sets up a classic encounter with the 3rd place Coorparoo this Saturday night under lights with the game starting at 6 pm. This is one not to be missed especially with ex tiger star and club champion Riley Buntain donning the navy blue jumper of Coorparoo in 2018. Great to see club legend and life member Brian Trist down at Weyba road last Saturday who is battling serious illness, He just epitomizes the tiger spirit and we hope to see Tristy at many more games this season. Don’t forget to book your presidents dinner spot for Saturday night as we welcome the fastest bowler in history Jeff Thomson to our footy club.
