The Rococo’s Bar and Bistro Noosa Tigers have gone down by the smallest of margins in front of a strong Sunshine Coast following under lights last Saturday night. Our second night game of season 2018 attracted a fantastic 1300+ crowd who witnessed a see-sawing battle between ‘Suncoast’ rivals Noosa and the young and vibrant Caloundra Panthers.

The home side jumped the young Panthers in the first quarter with superior ball movement and some excellent finishing work up forward to lead by just under 4 goals at the first break. From then on it was a much more desperate and hard working Panthers outfit who clawed their way back and over the middle two quarters began to have an obvious advantage in general play. With the final stanza to play it was Caloundra by a couple of goals and looking ominous.

The last quarter was a thrilling affair as Noosa made a late charge and were even pushing forward in the dying seconds only for the siren to sound and go down by a solitary point. The 34 minute final quarter had the entire gathering on the edge of their seats and whilst the loss was disappointing to the Noosa faithful; most there were impressed by the way the Steve Moody coached the Panthers. The two sides look like meeting again in a fortnight when 2nd hosts 3rd in a major qualifying final which again will be held at Weyba Road.

However it’s Burleigh away this Saturday to finish the season on a positive note for the 2nd placed Noosa Tigers. The best on Saturday night was Kent Delbridge who bagged six goals after missing the past five weeks in a great performance with Jai Fitzpatrick. Skipper Aaron Laskey battled hard for his team the entire night whilst on-baller Tyler Stack and Nick Hill tried in vain to get the Tigers across the line. No massive concerns over the loss, however maybe just the hiccup we need before finals begin in two weeks.

A massive President’s Dinner was had by all for season 2018 with many thanks to ex Carlton and Sydney champion David Rhys Jones for his presence and also a big thank you to all those who donated auction items for our gala auction; which again was a great success. Good luck to all Tiger teams on the weekend Cheers Pittsy
