Tigers sink Mayne in heavy going!

The Rococo’s Bar and Bistro Noosa Tigers had a satisfying 41 point victory in grinding conditions at Noosa Village Autos oval last Saturday afternoon. Whilst the ground conditions were heavy due to even more winter rain it was obvious from the very first bounce that Mayne had not come here to lie down. Their attack on the ball and man was noticeable during the reserve grade game and it definitely followed on. However the Noosa boys still had the answers when needed and their superior finishing skills told the tale in the end.

Senior coach Adam Bovalino saying ‘it was a real grinding win and they are goods ones to get out of the way. You sort of bank those ones as the scoreboard was pretty close for the most part and the conditions looked to suit Mayne. Once again though our boys found a higher gear and ran out pretty comfortable winners in the end. Another bye this week for the rep game and then a pretty big five weeks ahead. Cant wait!’

The Tigers had plenty of good players but none stood out more than teenager Maverick Pettigrove who kicked 3 goals and showcased his exquisite foot skills for the full four quarters. Footy manager Mitch Woods was again in everything continually racking up high possession numbers and assisting his teammates whoever possible. Skipper Aaron Laskey was again one of the best players on the ground and just never seems to get beaten in one on one contests. His long kicking a highlight also. Centre half forward Connor McDonald booted 4 goals in an outstanding attacking display to continue his great season whilst youngster Angus Smyth was prominent once again across half back. Nick Hill booted 3 goals in a fine display up forward whilst Jai Fitzpatrick and Tyler Stack found plenty of the footy throughout the contest. All in all a good solid win by the ladder leading Tigers.

A massive thank you to Essendon legend Simon Madden who fantastically entertained us at our President’s Lunch on Saturday. A very enjoyable afternoon.

The seniors had their 2019 season ball on the Catalina last Saturday night which from all reports was a ripping night. Thanks to the ladies on the social committee for organising such a great event. We have our junior social this Saturday night at the Land & Sea Brewery so get your tickets from the club on Thursday night.

And don’t forget our cash draw with 5k up for grabs. $100.00 a ticket gives you the chance to take home the big prize with 3 hours of refreshments and canapes drawn on Sunday June the 23rd. Always a fun afternoon.

Good luck to all the Noosa boys that made the South Queensland side to play in Townsville this weekend and also to all Tiger junior teams who take the field this weekend. Go Tigers!
