De Ja Vu for Tigers!
The Rococo’s Bar and Bistro Noosa Tigers are into their third straight senior QFA Division 1 Grand Final and once again will front up against arch rival and defending back to back premiers Maroochydore. The Noosa boys paved the way to the big dance with a convincing last half against a pretty brave Springwood at Noosa Village Autos Oval on Saturday.
The Puma’s really took it up to the Tigers for two and a half quarters before superior fitness and running strength gave the local boys the chance once again to leave a legacy at this great club.
Hunger shouldn’t be an issue for the Tigers and their massive contingent of followers as they chase the dream of bringing back a premiership flag to our headquarters. Defensively the Tigers have been superb led brilliantly by skipper Aaron Laskey and the athletic Riley Buntain. McCrimmon and Maher simply compliment them whilst teenagers Angus Smyth and Will McKenzie look like they’ve been playing senior footy for years. Footy manager Mitch Woods has had a brilliant year on a wing as has bullocking onballer Jayden Holt. Tyler Stack on the other wing is also a key to the Tigers success.
In the middle it’s been the class of McDonald, Fitzpatrick and Hill that has seen the Tigers only go down twice in 2019. Up forward names like Jeffrey, Brock, Kenny and McKendrick provide terrific focal points with small forwards Pettigrove and O’Dwyer just the icing on the cake as they continually flash in with pieces of brilliance. Then you have names like Trompf and Boyle who are Tiger premiership hero’s from near a decade ago still plying their trade without any fuss. Trompf of course a crowd favourite and an X factor coming into this week.
Nick Sutton also an X-Factor whose hardness is exactly what is needed this Saturday whilst local boys like Boardman, Tarling or Johnston will never let you down. Just so exciting writing about this! There’s been a great feeling about this group of boys all year and this writer reckons the pathway in will suit. We are the hunters this week and it’s just the way we like it. Good clubs don’t lose three in a row and we at the Tigers know just how far we bat above our weight for a small but most beautiful resort town.
The Reserves are in there too as they attempt to go premiers and champions in what has been an awesome season for Tony Brennan’s boys. Names like Isles, Winter and Wallace are all senior premiership players at the club leading them beautifully. All the best boys! But we all know we are judged by the performance of our seniors and that senior success is measured by premierships!
Massive week ahead so make sure you get down to Thursday night training and cheer on the Tigers who head into this Saturday with a full bill of health. Grand final Eve drinks will be held at the Noosa Heads Surf Club from 4.30 pm on Friday night for all Tiger members and supporters. A Supporter Bus will be leaving for Yeronga at 9am on Saturday morning from the club. Cost is $25 per person and BYO.
