What a weekend! With footy always at the forefront and definitely the winner. It started on Friday where our 50 year celebration of Sunshine Coast AFL was held at the Alex Surf Club, and didn’t the Noosa Tigers clean up! Caleb Isles, Brett Duke, Nathan Winter, Tob Purvis and Gary Wallace all deservedly inducted in to the Sunny Coast Hall of Fame.

Bart Jaques, Doug Murray and Mark Vagg all elevated to legend status after their service to Sunny Coast Aussie Rules was due reward for tremendous service .Vagg,a three time Best and Fairest from the Noosa Tigers also named at Centre Half back and named Captain of the Sundhine Coast Team of the Half Century. A wonderful achievement!

Neville White, Lucas Mathews, Caleb Isles, att Hicks and ‘Bones ‘ Murray also selected in the 50 year team and all champions of the Noosa Tigers! A wonderful day had by all who attended!

Then came Saturday, where popular clubman and Reserve grade skipper Gary Wallace ran out in his 300th Club Senior game in front of hundreds of the Tiger faithful where a great win by the twos kept their finals dreams alive with celebrations of Gaza’s efforts going long into the night as they should.

Add to those Senior games more than 200 junior games and you have an amazing servant at your club. Congrats Gaz and hope there’s many more to come.

President’s Luncheon with Merv Hughes
The great Victorian and Australian fast bowler had the President’s Luncheon in raptures the entire time and was quite simply one of the best functions in our 8 year history of hosting them. The sold out 140 strong attendance had nothing but praise for the occasion with comedian Darren Carr (who I’m told is absolutely hysterical) our last guest speaker coinciding with our mega Auction Day on Saturday the 13th of August.
A big thank you to all involved with the luncheon on Saturday! A great success!

Match Report
The Rococo Noosa Tigers put on a commanding performance in front of a huge Noosa crowd with key forwards Aaron Wilson and big Jono Freeman bagging 5 and 7 goals respectively. Wilson of course in rare form after kicking 7 last week in the epic draw with Maroochydore.

Ruckman Connor McDonald continued his stunning season with another near best on ground performance with onballers Templeton, Laskey, Wallis and Fitzpatrick all racking up plenty of touches and having their own stamp on proceedings. Ryley Buntain was terrific at Centre Half Forward bagging 3 goals and having a hand in many others whilst Charlie Bowes across half back was a full four quarter performer collecting 33 disposals and using the footy with great effect.

A terrific victory by the Tigers who continue to sit in 5th position and head down to the Goldy on Saturday to play Palm Beach in simply a massive clash! As Senior Coach Chris Rourke said ’it’s really good that our destiny is in our own hands. We play the teams we need to beat to play finals so it’s up to us and I’m very confident about how we will end up’.

Junior Update – Weekend 22nd – 24th July

Harsh weather conditions saw our U13 Girls Red team’s game on Friday night rescheduled to Sunday in Kawana against Caloundra. The girls battled for 4 quarters against the wind but held onto the top score to walk away with the win.

Results from the weekend are as follows:

Teams playing away were:

Both U8 teams played at Maroochydore

U13 Girls Div 1

Caloundra vs Noosa Red 5.7.37 to 7.8.50

Mountain Creek vs Noosa Blue 0.2.2 to 13.11.63

U12 Div 3

Pomona vs Noosa 1.3.9 to 2.6.18

U16 Boys Div 1

Maroochydore vs Noosa 14.11.95 to 3.5.23

Noosa showed courage throughout the game after 1 player came off the field before half time and another early in the 3rd quarter from harsh tackles with knocks to the head. We wish that Rory McKenzie and Luke Morris are feeling much better today. Noosa showed glimpses of greatness however Maroochydore appeared faster and stronger, scoreboard reflecting the win to Maroochydore.

U17 Girls Div 1

Aspley vs Noosa 2.9.21 to 2.1.13

Coach Mick Williams writes – On a perfect day for footy at the sensational home of the Aspley Hornets it ended with Aspley defeating Noosa. Lily Baker tried bravely direct to her team to victory but even with our improved under 17’s we departed with the loss. Ella Kennedy played her best game but had to leave the ground in an ambulance, so the team’s thoughts are with her and we wish her a speedy recovery. We have two home games remaining for our season and we will continue to improve, train hard & finish the season on a positive note. Go Tigers.

Teams playing at home yesterday all had wins cementing their final spots.

Home Teams were

U12 Div 2

Noosa vs Maroochydore a giant more than 10 goal win

U14 Div 1

Noosa vs Maroochydore 10.6.68 to 2.1.13

U14 Div 2

Noosa vs Caloundra another giant win by more than 10 goals

Under 10 Red and Blue played out on our back oval where the players enjoyed the muddy conditions. U10 White’s game was unfortunately cancelled up in Gympie due to the ground being closed from the rain earlier in the week.

Thank you
